It blows my mind that Hawaii isn’t known as a foodie destination because we most definitely are a melting pot of cultures and food. One of my favorite spots to eat was made famous by “Man v. Food”. At M.A.C. 24/7, Adam did the M.A.C. Daddy Pancake challenge. Yes, the pancakes are as big as they looked on the show.
M.A.C. 24/7 is hidden away in Waikiki. You probably won’t find many locals eating there at any one given time simply because we don’t have the time in our busy schedules, Waikiki is a pain in our behind to go into, and it costs more than our wallets can normally handle. However, when I do get the time and money, M.A.C. 24/7 is one of my favorite places to eat. The best part is, they are open 24/7.
First thing you should know, parking is valet only. You can try to find street parking, but you have to pay for that too. It costs $3 for valet if you are eating at M.A.C. 24/7. That is the cheapest valet you will ever find in Waikiki. If you’re on vacation and staying in Waikiki, I’d recommend going by foot and enjoying our beautiful weather.
The restaurant itself is in the Hilton Waikiki Beach Hotel. It’s super easy to find. From the valet, you just head straight in and keep going straight towards where it looks like the bathrooms are. They are right next to where the restrooms are located. If you enter through the front entrance, go to your right. You now also know where the restroom is if you need it.
They will generally ask if you have a reservation or not. Don’t worry about making a reservation but make one if you know when you’ll be going and especially if you have a big party. When I go with my other half, we never have a problem getting a table. They will seat you on either the inside where the bar is located with TV’s or on the outer side where you can look at a beautiful gazebo with the sunlight filtering in during the daytime. While the restaurant itself looks to be on the higher end, it’s fine to show up in slippers and shorts.
My go to dish is always Classic Eggs Benedict. They serve everything on their menu 24/7. In my opinion, their eggs benedict is my favorite on the entire island. I’ve actually tried a lot of different eggs benedict. There was a time when I specifically craved that and made my boyfriend drive me all over to many different restaurants just so I could try their eggs benedict. M.A.C. 24/7 always cooks their eggs perfectly. They are the only restaurant that has never once served me the eggs overcooked or too raw. The hollandaise sauce is always the perfect consistency. You cannot go wrong with their eggs benedict.
This time we decided to try the Ahi Tuna Stack as an appetizer. Our first time trying this. It was so good. Anytime you pair ahi with avocado, oh, broke da mouth. For those not from Hawaii, “broke da mouth” means the food is almost indescribably good. Needless to say, we did not waste this at all. I definitely recommend trying this. If you’re not a raw fish fan, then this is not for you. That fish is 100% raw. If you've never had raw fish but are feeling adventurous, go for it!
My other half decided to try the Kalbi Steak Salad. He wiped his plate clean. He eats healthier than me and generally will order a salad wherever we go. This salad was a medley of flavors that he really enjoys. Those orange colored pieces is papaya which you can find year round here in Hawaii.
I honestly feel that the pricing is incredibly reasonable for the quantity and quality of food you get. This restaurant has a melding of different cultures in it’s menu and represents Hawaii well. Service is always great. I’ve never had them tell me they couldn’t do something when I asked them, but I try to be reasonable on my requests. If you’re ever in Hawaii, come eat at M.A.C. 24/7 and let me know how it was.
